Just so everyone knows, CYMA has released the CM031 in Hong Kong and it's a very nice looking AK74 replica (uses AK47 mags for airsoft simplicity/convenience). I saw pictures of the all black version and it's very nice, should be a wooden/bakelite facsimile version as well. Probably will arrive here in about a month. Coming almost as soon is an MPEG M14. I shouldn't have to say anymore about that - pure win. Looks like it will be manufactured by Double Eagle. Won't be that cheap though, expected to be sub-200 USD. Hong Kong should be receiving samples within the month. I've also read of an impending MPEG M249. Time will tell, sooner or later, time will tell ...

Long time no update: A&K M4 S-System Replica has been out for quite a while: www.airsoftretreat.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=113Cheapest I've seen it for is $120 shipped at EVIKE. Apparently a metal version is supposed to be soon coming. I want one of those things. Lots of awesome stuff coming out and no airsoft games - mad.

this is from Airsoft1.com (aka, Affordableairsoft.com) and it should clear up some of the bullshit about gun brands.
What’s with all the rebranding in Airsoft?
Is this a JG, GB, Matrix, TSD, VB, Echo1, UTG?.......Why are they making it so hard?
So why is it that the seemingly same gun is called by so many names? To find out we talked to some of the manufactures and the companies that re-brand these guns under there own names.
Ok, let’s start with JG (Jin Gong), JG is the actual company in China that manufactures the G36C V2 shown above. The name Jin Gong translates to Golden Bow in English. So both of these name are entirely correct for a company to post on there website or catalog.
The tricky part comes in when the distributor or reseller buys there product direct from the factory and chooses to put there own name on the box. This is completely legal and is common practice in most industries. Take Cars for example, the Lexus ES300 is the exact same car as a loaded Toyota Avalon, with a $5,000 to $8,000 price difference. Why, because people will pay for it. Same goes for Airsoft. The same JG #0608 G36 V2 is $99 on our site that many sites are selling under different names at $114 to $149. Why, because people will pay it!
Now this in not to say there are not benefits to buying a renamed gun. Echo1 for instance claims to check each and every gun for defects before shipping and offers a 30 day warranty. In addition to this the rebranders in the USA also must buy liability insurance (or at least there suppose to). Continued. on P2
Since they are putting there company name on the item they bear the responsibility overall for the item. If someone were to sue over the item JG would not be involved, the company with there name on the box would be responsible.
Then there is the input these companies put into the design. Companies like UTG and Echo1 actually do aid in the product development. I spoke to the owner of Echo1 who is a friend and an experienced Air smith. He personally went to JG in China and broke down all the problems they have with there guns. He showed them what to do to make them a super high quality gun and what the limits should be. After talking to him I think he may have personally changed the landscape of Chinese guns for the future. UTG made a similar visit in the early days of Chinese guns and helped to develop the first Medium Powered Electric Guns where there was only LPEG’s before.
That brings us to the TSD, Matrix, Vinbo, and Ect…… type companies. These companies are distributors or retailers that add no added value to the item except to feel good there name is on a box. These are the companies that confuse most. In general they are useless names and only hamper the buying experience. Many of our competitors have stopped using these names on there sites in response to the Airsoft community. We have ALWAYS used the correct manufacture name on our site in order to help our customer understand what there buying…and always will!
