coming from someone who's never fired either an M4 or an AK47, i'm not going to believe you.

it doesn't fager, look at the statistics that you always pull outta nowhere and u will see that i am right, in veitnam, us troops picked up ak's... becuase they where more reliable. nobody else, but the canadiens use the m16, everyone else has something beter, G3'S, FAMAS, even newer AK 105'S and still AK 47'S and AK74'S. every one else is smart enough to get durable and reliable weapons.

i agree with curt. and since we will be fighting enemies, eqiped with AK type weapons, you can just pick oup ammo. is the united states ever going to war against a nation that is armed with anything but aks? we havent in the past 40 years. i rest my case. plus the ak just owns the crap outa the 16. even the iraqi insurgents have no respect for the 16 or the 5.56 round... caue it sucks and is too small to do any good... jeez.

the only weapons the us has better are our cqb (mp5) lmg's( M60, M249, M240B) and our long weapons (M24 SWS, M82A1, SR-25, M40A3) other than that we are screwed the 16 is a small round, mneant for armoured targets, that is ok against someone with armor, but how many terrorists have good armor

hehe, notice all the weapons just mentioned aren't even made by us (mp5: H&K, M249: Fabrique Nationale*)
*-fires the 5.56mm catridge.
personally, i wouldn't fight a war unless my whole army had nothing but heavily modified M240s with a modified MK19 bolted underneath the gun. or power armor. like the loader from Aliens.

All right, if the 5.56x45mm is outclassed by the 7.62x39mm, then why are modern Kalashnikov variants (AK74) chambered in 5.45x39mm. Why are many captured weapons of the Mujahideen, Taliban, Al-Quaeda, etc found to be AK74 variants and chambered in this "inferior" 5.45mm round? Why is the PLA busy replacing it's AK variants with the QBZ 95 chambered in 5.8x42 mm? By the way, this is an army with about two and a quarter million active-duty soldiers (largest army in the world). Curt mentions the FAMAS and G3 - the FAMAS is chambered in 5.56x45mm and so is the G3's replacement, the G36. Basically, there are a lot of weapons out there that are not chambered in 7.62x39mm. Battlefield salvage is not always going to be a simple fager of picking up random munitions on the ground and using it in a US standard issue weapon. Also, the use of enemy-compatible ammunition can easily backfire if a friendly convoy of this brass falls into opfor hands. So tell me guys, what do you know that these weapons designers don't?
The M16 vs AK47 debate has been done for about 40 years now - it really doesn't belong in the "Weapon Collections/Random Gun Pics" section here ... also pretty moot considering this is an airsoft forum ultimately about weapons which mostly fire 6x6mm plastic rounds and bow before the 8x8mm Garands and Barretts.

ok whatever but my point is that the m16(5.56) is effecive against armored targets correct... well nobody terrorist land has armor, 7.62's would be so much more effective for no armor, bigger round = bigger hole

well dave, that pretty much shuts curts discussion down completely, yet he continues to babble about shit that has nothing to do with this thread.

in close trech or cqb fighting yes.... but if you set that mother fucker up on a roof top the small round makes it perfect for moderate distance shots
